摘要:Abstract:It is only until a very late date that educology has become an independent discipline. Under the influence of "society-first" orientation, educology had been long categorized as a social science, responsive to societal or political needs. Nevertheless, education is to serve firstly the development of humanity, and consequently, make a positive impact on society. Therefore, it is not appropriate to classify educology as a social science just because education itself is a kind of social activity. Nor is it advisable to categorize educology as a comprehensive discipline, for that is not conducive to understanding the true nature of educology, which is actually a branch of the humanities, a typical and classical example of humanities disciplines.
