摘要：Divergence and Convergence： A Comparative Study of Higher Education  Research in Colleges of Education in Both Normal Universities and  General Academic Institutions of Higher Education in China
Abstract：There are significant differences between colleges of education in normal universities and general academic institutions of higher education in China in their institutional characteristics, historical evolution and distinctive features of higher education （HE） research. To begin with, ＂organization ＆ administration＂ and ＂knowledge ＆ curriculum＂ rank first and second among the most pop- ular fields of study for colleges of education in normal universities, while colleges of education in general academic institutions focus most on ＂system ＆ structure＂ and ＂teaching ＆ research＂ as well. So far as research paradigms are concerned, both of the colleges of education prefer structuralism rather than humanism. But there is still one difference ： positive paradigm is more commonly found in general academic institutions, while normal universities favor empirical one. These differences between two types of colleges of ed- ucation reflect the complex interactive relationship between knowledge production, institutional environment, organizations and ac- tors/researchers in HE research in China. In the long term, under the combined effect of both institutional environment and local knowledge, HE research in different types of higher education institutions is likely to show trends of divergence and convergence at the same time.
