摘要：Enlightening Pedagogy is to Safeguard and Promote Human DignityHu JinmuAbstract： Enlightenment means the liberation of human mind from the dominion of ignorance, superstition, immaturity and blind obedi- ence. Such an idea of human development stipulates the need of education. No matter in the West or China, the purpose of education is to enable people to go beyond narrow religious or ideological allegiances to re-discover human dignity and re-establish ourselves as in- dependent rational agents who deserve to be treated in a humane way. Both enlightenment and education aim at bringing humanity to its awakening and autonomy. Special precautions, hence, need to be taken against any attempts to dehumanize or depersonalize our educa- tion. In a word, enlightening pedagogy is a liberal education that helps to develop your intellectual skills, self discipline, independence as well as autonomy.
