摘要：In the early 1970s, British educational historians converted to Marxism by replacing the idea of linear progression of history with Marxist theory of class struggle, and reexamined the impact and significance of educational historiography on society as a whole. This conversion is not wholly revolutionary, but a kind of innovation based on traditional heritage. With the help of Marxist theory and methods, British educational historians not only discovered new data, but also developed new research areas of educational historiogra- phy, too. In addition, by integrating Marxism with the empirical and positivist traditions in British educational historiography, they were able to produce quite a few stimulating and highly readable monographs, which represented very significant achievements in edu- cational historiography.
