Collaborative Innovation： Value Creation through Knowledge Synergy

摘要：＂ Collaborative innovation＂ has been mentioned in ＂Plan for Improving the Innovation Capability of Higher Education＂ （ ＂Project 2011 ＂for short） as a national policy in China. However, a satisfactory and acceptable definition of collaborative innovation has yet to be agreed upon. Based on a critical review of previous studies, this paper puts forward its own interpretation of the new term. It maintains that collaborative innovation should be defined as value creation through knowledge synergy, or creating value through co- operative knowledge production. The ultimate goal of collaborative innovation is to build a strong National Innovation System, or an in- teractive and social capital-based network for value creation through knowledge and action learning.
